VEX 2016-2017 Challenge: Starstruck

Starstruck

VEX Starstruck is played on a 12'x12' square field by two alliances, one "red" and one "blue", each composed of two teams. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing alliance by scoring stars and cubes across the fence into the scoring zones.

Each match starts with a 15 second autonomous period, where robots move independently. The alliance with the most points at the end of this period is awarded bonus points. Following that is a 1 minute, 45 second driver control period.
There are a total of 24 stars and 4 cubes available for scoring in each match, with four stars and two cubes introduced as driver loads. There is also a hanging bar on each side of the fence, and hanging on the bar at the end of the match grants that alliance bonus points.

The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These are just a few of the many fields students can explore by creating with VEX Robotics technology. Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups. It also allows educators to easily customize projects to meet the level of students’ abilities. The affordable VEX platform is expanding rapidly and is now found in middle schools, high schools and university labs around the globe. Robotics hobbyists also appreciate the advanced capabilities of the VEX System.
