VEX 2017-2018 Challenge:
​In The Zone​

In The Zone

VEX In The Zone is played on a 12'x12' square field by two alliances, one "red" and one "blue", each composed of two teams. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing alliance by stacking cones on goals, scoring mobile goals in zones, having the highest stacks, and parking robots.

Each match starts with a 15 second autonomous period, where robots move independently. The alliance with the most points at the end of this period is awarded bonus points. Following that is a 1 minute, 45 second driver control period.
There are a total of eight mobile goals (four per alliance), two stationary goals (one per alliance), and 80 cones in each match, with one cone per robot as a preload, twelve cones per alliance introduced as driver loads, and 52 cones starting at pre-designated locations on the field.

VEX

The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These are just a few of the many fields students can explore by creating with VEX Robotics technology. Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups. It also allows educators to easily customize projects to meet the level of students’ abilities. The affordable VEX platform is expanding rapidly and is now found in middle schools, high schools and university labs around the globe. Robotics hobbyists also appreciate the advanced capabilities of the VEX System. ​
